Born from a split with Orchestre Caraïbes, Orchestre Tropicana d’Haïti emerged in Cap-Haitien in 1963 and quickly became the leading konpa institution of Haiti’s northern region. Their sound is built on strong horn sections, melodic guitar lines, refined arrangements, and songwriting that moves between romance, social commentary, and popular celebration. Over the decades, Tropicana has explored konpa latino, bolero, guajira, samba, and guaguancó while maintaining a deeply Haitian identity. The band has shaped generations with classics that remain essential in dance halls, patronal feasts, and the diaspora. Still very active on stage, Tropicana continues to embody the pride of Cap-Haitien and to carry the konpa torch worldwide. Nicknamed the “International Golden Rocket” for its longevity and discipline. Originally from Cap-Haitien, Tropicana is a powerful symbol of northern Haitian culture. Performed a version of “Grenadye Alaso” associated with the Haitian national football team.
